Five leagues, one continental competition and the biggest league in South America, and the scoring charts already have shapes. Spain's is crowded at the top, England's has one name clear, Germany's has seven players tied on the same number. Here is where each stands after the weekend, with goals per match, since the leagues have played different numbers of rounds.

What the numbers say
Spain is the race. Four players on six after five rounds, two of them at Barcelona — Raphinha and Yamal both scored twice at Levante on Sunday, and Raphinha set up two as well — one at Real Madrid, and one, Sergio Camello, at Rayo Vallecano, who are sixteenth. Mbappé scored twice against Rayo the night before; Camello scored against Madrid. That is 1.2 goals a match for each of the four.
Italy's leader has the best rate. D. Malen's five in four matches for Roma is 1.25 a game, and Roma have scored twelve in total — so he has nearly half of them. Frosinone's A. Raimondo has four from a side sitting seventh.
England's chart is Haaland's, and then a crowd. Four goals in four matches, the last of them the only goal of the derby with ten men. Seven players sit on three: João Pedro and Morgan Rogers at Chelsea, Alexander Isak, Marcus Tavernier, Kevin Schade, Bruno Fernandes and Bukayo Saka.
Germany has no leader at all. Three rounds in, seven players have three goals and nobody has four — from Patrik Schick at Leverkusen to Igor Matanović at Freiburg, whose two on Saturday came in a 5–0. Antonio Nusa of Leipzig has two goals and two assists after the other 5–0.
In France, three share it — and two of them meet on Sunday. A. Gouiri of Marseille and Ferran Torres of PSG, on four and three, are on opposite sides in the Classique at the Vélodrome.
One match, three goals, twice. Talisca of Fenerbahçe tops the Champions League chart on four, all scored before the league phase began; behind him it is a list of matchday-one hat-tricks — Ferran Torres's three against Slovan Bratislava and E. Demirović's three for Stuttgart against Viking, both on Wednesday.
Brazil is a different scale. Kevin Viveros has eighteen after 27 rounds for Atlético Paranaense, three clear of Flamengo's Pedro, and both play on Sunday — Viveros against Bahia, Pedro against Bragantino.
