Twenty-three clubs have not lost yet — seven of them have not dropped a point — and twenty-three have not won. One table across England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France.
Three to five rounds in, depending on the league, and the five biggest divisions in Europe have 96 clubs between them. Twenty-three of those have not lost a match. Seven have not dropped a point. And, by a symmetry nobody planned, exactly twenty-three have not won one. The unbeaten

Two things stand out. La Liga, five rounds in, has only two — a round more than everyone else, and the sharpest sorting: Barcelona have five wins from five, Deportivo two wins and three draws, and everyone else has lost. Ligue 1 has five unbeaten sides and not one with a perfect record; three of them, Lille, Monaco and Rennes, share the top on ten points with three wins and a draw each.
England's seven is the longest list, and it is not the seven anyone would have written in August: Leeds and Hull City, both promoted, are third and fourth, and three of the seven — Brentford, Liverpool, Everton — are unbeaten with one win and three draws.
The perfect seven
Seven clubs have won every match. In goals, they divide into two kinds:
- The ones who score. Barcelona, 21 in five; Inter, 13 in four; AS Roma, 12 in four; Freiburg, 10 in three.
- The ones who do not concede. Arsenal, one goal against in four; Freiburg, one in three; Roma, one in four; Dortmund, two in three; Manchester City, two in four.
Freiburg and Roma are on both lists. Roma and Inter meet on Saturday at the Olimpico, so by Saturday evening the seven will be six at most.
The winless

Four of them have no points at all — Coventry, Venezia, Gladbach and Hamburg — and four have yet to score: Coventry, Tottenham, Hamburg and Paderborn. Tottenham are the odd one: two points from two draws and not a goal in four matches.
Where it changes this week
Several of these records meet each other. Brighton, who have scored thirteen, host Arsenal on Saturday. Roma host Inter. Freiburg go to Frankfurt, who have not lost to them in five meetings; Dortmund go to Stuttgart, who have beaten them three times in five. In La Liga, midweek, Barcelona host Racing on Wednesday and Deportivo host Sevilla. And in the Premier League, Tottenham and Aston Villa — two of the winless — play each other on Saturday morning, so one list is guaranteed to get shorter.
