Ligue 1 matchday 5 preview: Marseille v PSG on Sunday night, Lyon v Rennes, and Lille at Nice

The round closes with the Classique, and the two sides in it are eighth and thirteenth. Paris Saint-Germain have one win from four; Marseille have lost three of four and were beaten 5–0 by PSG in February. Before that, three of the sides on ten points are in action: Monaco open the round against Lens on Friday, Rennes go to Lyon on Saturday, and Lille go to Nice on Sunday — a side they have not beaten in the last two meetings.

Friday

Monaco v Lens (18:45 UTC, Stade Louis II). Monaco are unbeaten with two goals conceded; Lens are tenth on four after drawing 2–2 at Le Mans. Lens have won two of the last three meetings, 4–1 on their last visit here in November and 4–0 at home in May 2025; Monaco won 3–2 at Lens in February.

Saturday

Paris FC v Strasbourg (15:15 UTC, Jean Bouin). Paris FC are unbeaten, fifth on eight, and have conceded two; Strasbourg are sixth on seven and have scored nine. The two league meetings last season were 0–0 in March and 3–2 to Strasbourg here in September.

Angers v Estac Troyes (18:45 UTC, Raymond Kopa). Four points each, eleventh and twelfth. Angers have won the last three meetings — 2–1 and 4–1 in Ligue 2, 2–1 in Ligue 1 in May 2023.

Le Mans v Lorient (18:45 UTC, MMArena). Le Mans have drawn three of four and are still without a win; Lorient are ninth on five. Lorient won both league meetings the last time they shared a division, in 2019–20.

Lyon v Rennes (18:45 UTC, Groupama Stadium). Two unbeaten sides: Lyon fourth on eight with two goals conceded, Rennes third on ten after beating Marseille. The home side has won the last four meetings — Lyon 4–2 in May and 4–1 in April 2025, Rennes 3–1 and 3–0 at home.

Toulouse v Le Havre (18:45 UTC, Stadium Municipal). Sixteenth against seventeenth, two points each, neither with a win. Le Havre won the last meeting 2–1 in February; the last visit to Toulouse was 0–0, and Toulouse won 4–1 at Le Havre the season before.

Sunday

Auxerre v Stade Brestois 29 (13:00 UTC, Abbé-Deschamps). Auxerre have lost three in a row and conceded eleven; Brest are seventh on five. Auxerre have won the last two here 3–0, in March and in September 2024; Brest won 2–0 at home in January.

Nice v Lille (15:15 UTC, Allianz Riviera). Nice are eighteenth with two points, one goal and no win; Lille lead on ten. But Nice are unbeaten in the last two meetings — 0–0 in April, 2–0 here in October; Lille's last win was 2–1 in January 2025.

Marseille v Paris Saint-Germain (18:45 UTC, Vélodrome). Marseille have one win and three defeats; PSG have won one, drawn two and lost one. PSG won 5–0 in February and 3–0 on their last visit here, in October 2024; Marseille's last win in the fixture was 1–0 at home in September 2025.

Monaco can be top on Friday night; Lyon go to eleven and above Rennes with a win on Saturday. Toulouse v Le Havre gives one of the bottom three a first win; a PSG win takes them to eight, level with where Lyon and Paris FC started the round.
