La Liga matchday 7: Atlético win the derby, a Raphinha hat-trick keeps Barcelona perfect, Elche win with ten men

Seven rounds, seven wins: Barcelona won 3–1 at Sevilla on Saturday with a hat-trick from Raphinha and are five points clear at the top of La Liga. The gap behind them is to a new name. Atlético Madrid beat Real Madrid 2–1 in the derby after Dean Huijsen was sent off, and moved up to second. Celta Vigo won for the first time this season, 5–0 against Racing Santander, and Elche won 3–1 at Espanyol after playing almost the whole match with ten men. Ten matches produced 30 goals, four home wins, three away wins, three draws and three red cards.

The headline matches

Atlético Madrid 2–1 Real Madrid was goalless at half-time. It was decided in seven minutes after the break. Huijsen was sent off on 52 after a VAR review, Alejandro Grimaldo scored a penalty on 53 and Jonathan David made it 2–0 on 59 from Giuliano Simeone Baldini's pass. Antonio Rüdiger pulled one back on 89, set up by Bernardo Silva. Atlético had eighteen shots, nine on target, to Madrid's eight and three.

Sevilla 1–3 Barcelona began with a Sevilla lead. Youssouf Fofana scored on 19 from Félix Correia's pass. Raphinha equalised three minutes later from Andreas Christensen's pass, then scored on 52 and 69, both times from Lamine Yamal. Barcelona had 70 per cent of the ball and 24 shots, seven on target. Sevilla had seven shots.

Espanyol 1–3 Elche opened the round on Friday. Elche lost Federico Redondo Solari to a red card on 6 after a VAR review, and were two up by the 29th minute anyway. Fernando Niño Rodríguez scored on 26 and 29, both from Roy Revivo's pass. Víctor Chust's own goal on 72 gave Espanyol a way back. Germán Valera, from Tete Morente, ended it on 78. Espanyol had 66 per cent of the ball and 23 shots but only four on target. Elche put six of their nine on target.

Celta Vigo 5–0 Racing Santander was Celta's first win of the season. Hugo González scored a penalty on 32 and Ilaix Moriba made it 2–0 on 43 from Miguel Román's pass. Román scored the third himself on 69. Pablo Durán Fernández scored on 78 and in the second minute of stoppage time, both from Hugo Álvarez Antúnez. Racing had 59 per cent of the ball. Celta put nine of their thirteen shots on target.

The rest

Valencia 2–3 Real Sociedad was settled in stoppage time. Luka Sučić put Real Sociedad ahead on 26 from Job Ochieng's pass. Aaron Mayol equalised on 57 from Hugo Duro's, and Carlos Soler scored a penalty on 75. Luken Beitia's own goal on 84 levelled it again. Ander Barrenetxea, from Soler, scored the winner in the first added minute. Orri Steinn Óskarsson was sent off in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Valencia had 22 shots and five on target. They have won once all season: 1–0 at Alavés in Tuesday's midweek round.

Villarreal 3–1 Levante was level at the break. Ayoze Pérez scored on 41 from Alberto Moleiro's pass, and Iván Romero replied a minute later from Jeremy Toljan's. Moleiro scored on 54 from Ilias Akhomach Chakkour's pass and set up Georges Mikautadze on 86. Levante managed one shot on target. Villarreal have won their last two.

Getafe 1–0 Málaga was decided on 85, when Iván Azón scored from Martín Satriano's pass. Getafe had twenty shots, seven on target. Málaga had nine corners.

Deportivo La Coruña 1–1 Real Betis was drawn late. Cucho Hernández scored on 43 from Nelson Deossa's pass. Deportivo had 24 shots, seven on target, and eleven corners before Diego Villares equalised on 87, set up by Mario Soriano.

Osasuna 1–1 Rayo Vallecano had Ante Budimir's goal on 16 and Sergio Camello's reply on 50, from Adrià Pedrosa's pass. Rayo had 63 per cent of the ball and 19 shots, but only two on target.

Athletic Club 0–0 Alavés was the round's only goalless draw. Oihan Sancet missed a penalty on 70. Athletic had 24 shots and six on target. Alavés had two shots and neither was on target.

Barcelona have 21 points from seven matches, with 31 goals scored and seven conceded. Atlético and Real Betis are on 16, Atlético ahead on goal difference. Real Madrid are fourth on 15 and Sevilla fifth on 13. Athletic Club and Levante have played six: their midweek match has been moved to 21 October.
