Brasileirão round 28 preview: Flamengo host Bragantino, Palmeiras go to Grêmio, and Bahia visit Athletico

One point separates Flamengo and Palmeiras with eleven rounds to go, and both are in action on Sunday. Flamengo host RB Bragantino at the Maracanã — the side that beat them 3–0 in April; Palmeiras go to Grêmio, who are sixteenth and have lost four of their last five. Third-placed Atlético Paranaense host fifth-placed Bahia on Sunday night, a match Bahia have not lost in the last four. And Corinthians, on a run of five defeats, host Fluminense.

Saturday

Atlético-MG v Chapecoense (19:00 UTC, Arena MRV). Atlético-MG are seventh on 39 after beating Fluminense 3–1; Chapecoense are last on seventeen, with 52 goals conceded. Atlético-MG won 4–0 at Chapecoense in April.

Mirassol v Botafogo (20:00 UTC). Mirassol drew 2–2 with Vitória from two down; Botafogo have not won in five — two draws, three defeats. The three meetings since Mirassol came up have produced 3–2, 0–0 and 3–3.

Remo v Santos (21:30 UTC, Mangueirão). Remo are nineteenth on 23; Santos, tenth on 35, have won four of their last five and beat Cruzeiro with 32 shots. The sides have met three times this year, in the league and the Copa do Brasil, and Remo have not scored: 0–2, 0–0, 0–1.

Vasco da Gama v Coritiba (23:30 UTC, São Januário). Vasco won 2–1 at Grêmio; Coritiba, eighth on 38, came from 3–1 down with ten men to draw with Athletico. The last meeting, in April, was 1–1; Vasco won 5–1 here in September 2023.

São Paulo v Internacional (00:00 UTC Sunday, Morumbi — Saturday night in Brazil). São Paulo lost 2–0 at Palmeiras with ten men; Internacional won at Chapecoense with four shots. April's meeting was 1–1; São Paulo won the two before it, 3–0 at home and 2–1 at Internacional.

Grêmio v Palmeiras (14:00 UTC, Arena do Grêmio). Grêmio are sixteenth on 28; Palmeiras second on 56 after beating São Paulo. Palmeiras won 2–1 in April and 1–0 in each of the two visits before that; Grêmio's last win in the fixture was 3–2 here in November 2025.

Corinthians v Fluminense (19:00 UTC, Neo Química Arena). Corinthians have lost five in a row, the last of them 2–1 at Flamengo to an 89th-minute goal; Fluminense, fourth on 45, lost 3–1 at Atlético-MG. Fluminense won 3–1 in April; Corinthians won 1–0 at Fluminense in September 2025.

Vitória v Cruzeiro (19:00 UTC, Barradão). Vitória are twelfth on 33; Cruzeiro sixth on 42 after losing at Santos. Vitória have not beaten Cruzeiro in the last five meetings — three Cruzeiro wins, including 3–0 in April, and two draws here.
